At Center Stage Opera, our passion for the art of opera is the driving force behind our non-profit (501c3) organization, firmly rooted in the vibrant artistic community of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As the first and only touring opera company in Central Pennsylvania, we have etched our name as the premier purveyor of operatic excellence in the region.
Our operatic journey has been a harmonious crescendo of dedication, artistic innovation, and community engagement. On this mission since 2005, we take pride in our enduring commitment to nurturing both emerging talent and seasoned performers alike.
Center Stage Opera's mission is simple yet profound: to enrich the cultural tapestry of Central Pennsylvania through the power of opera. We believe that this rich and emotional art form should be accessible to all, and we strive to make it a reality through our dynamic productions and community outreach initiatives.
Meet Our Founder
KATHRYN FOSTER
Kathryn McCarney Foster, a native of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,began her musical journey at the age of 8, starting with piano. She furthered her musical prowess by becoming an original member of "The Pixies" girl group.
After graduating as valedictorian from Eichelberger High School in Hanover, Kathryn pursued her love for music and languages at Gettysburg College. There, she majored in music performance and languages, and her exceptional abilities earned her graduation honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. Throughout her career, Kathryn has graced the stage as a leading soprano in various productions with organizations such as the Harrisburg Singers, Central Pennsylvania Oratorio Society, and Harrisburg Civic Opera, showcasing her talent in roles from "La Traviata" to "Madama Butterfly."
Beyond her musical endeavors, Kathryn has contributed significantly to sports medicine, earning a place in the World Sports Medicine Hall of Fame for her groundbreaking work with NFL (Washington Redskins) and NHL/AHL (Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche, Hershey Bears) teams as a massage therapist. In addition to her musical and sports-related achievements, Kathryn is a dedicated educator, teaching voice, piano, core strength training, Tai Chi, self-defense, and holding expertise in various martial arts disciplines. Amidst her many accomplishments, Kathryn finds her greatest joy in her family.
