Alanna Marie Bath

Soprano

Name

American soprano Alanna Marie Bath has captured the hearts of audiences along the US East Coast with her exciting stage presence and rich, young dramatic soprano voice. Born in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania, Ms. Bath is rising to a promising career in opera.

A resident artist with the Capital Opera Harrisburg, Alanna took the stage as Mozart's favorite heroines, Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), in a gala concert featuring arias, duets, and ensembles in 2008. Alanna will make her role debut with Capital Opera Harrisburg in April 2010 as Puccini’s Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica.)

Alanna had the privilege to participate in the internationally acclaimed International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) program, under IVAI Founder and Artistic Director, Joan Dornemann and IVAI Founder and Musical Director, Paul Nadler in June 2008. While attending the program, she worked with world-renowned artists such as Sherrill Milnes,
Diana Soviero
, and Ruth Falcon.

Ms. Bath has received recognition for her singing with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) for three consecutive years.
Ms. Bath is a Penn State University graduate who earned a M.M. in Voice Performance and Pedagogy. During her graduate studies, she performed many roles with the Penn State Opera Theatre including Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), under the direction of E. Loren Meeker, Lady Billows (Albert Herring), and Sensuous Woman from Milton Granger's "The Proposal." She premiered the role of Henny Penny in the world premiere of Trinkley &
Charnesky's children's opera "Chicken Little.

In 2007, Alanna participated in the Intermezzo Young Artist Development Program in Brooksville, Florida, where she performed the role of Lady Billows (Albert Herring) under the baton of J. David Jackson (Metropolitan Opera) and direction of Andrew Chown (NYCO).

A 2006 graduate of Wilkes University, Ms. Bath received a B.M. in Music Education, magna cum laude.  Alanna made her operatic debut as the Second Woman in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas." with the Wilkes University Opera Workshop. Scene roles include Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Mrs. McLean (Susannah), and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte).

Ms. Bath currently resides in the Harrisburg area and continues her vocal studies with Beth Roberts, Chair of Voice Department at Mannes College of Music in NYC.
