Travis Wanner, tenor, is currently finishing his Performance M.M.
at Peabody Institute, in Baltimore, MD, under the vocal direction
of Steve Rainbolt. He completed his undergraduate studies at Colgate
University, studying with Neva Pilgrim. Before attending Peabody
Travis apprenticed as a pipe organ builder with Andover Organ Co.
of Methuen, MA. He hopes to continue a career in both performance
and organ building after Peabody. While not specializing in one
particular genre, Travis eagerly pursues performing opportunities
in early music, oratorio, German lieder, Italianate opera, and
contemporary American music. This past summer his love of Australian
wine carried him so far as the Australian National University to
perform the role of Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
Other recent performances include:
- Dr. Cajus in Verdi’s Falstaff with Peabody
Opera
- Baltimore premier of Ned Rorem’s Evidence of Things
Not Seen
- The Witch in Hansel und Gretel, by E. Humperdinck
- Adam in Hotel Eden, composed by Henry Mollicone,
with Peabody Opera
- A 15 th century Spanish Concert by the Peabody Consort (dir.
M. Cudek)
