Steven Pollack is a performer, director and actor who has appeared with such companies as Opera Theater of Philadelphia, Lancaster Opera, Rose Valley Opera, Bel Canto Lyric Opera, Delaware Valley Opera, Chestnut Hill Symphony, Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, Trinity Opera Theater, Opera of the Hamptons, King of Prussia Players and many others in the greater Philadelphia/New York area. He has recently been seen in leading roles in opera, concert programs, and musical theater, appearing as Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Germont in La Traviata, The Count in The Marriage of Figaro, Marcello in La Boheme, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Rigoletto in Rigoletto, and Father in Hansel & Gretel.
He was one of the original members of Peter Nero's Voices of the Pops, and often appeared as a soloist in the Clifford Brown
Jazz Festival. Mr. Pollack often performs jazz, standards in concert, restaurant and cabaret settings, and he was the producer of many concert/performance events at the Trinity Opera Theater in Philadelphia, and has directed for the Rose Valley Chorus & Orchestra, ACTS Community Theater, and directed Oliver! at the Merriam Theater this past spring. He was recently seen as Harold Hill in The Music Man, Arbace in Idomeneo, Tony/Luigi in Lucky Stiff, Mack Sennett in Mack & Mabel, Kid Conner in The Red Mill, and Nicely Nicely in Guys and Dolls. He was the producer/director of the Opera Theater at the High Note Café, where he directed and performed concert versions of La Traviata, La Boheme, Pagliacci, Tosca, Lucia, Rigoletto and many other operas. He directed The Heiress for PlayCrafters and performed in The Ritz Theater's production of Titanic, The Musical, and was Mr.
Fezziwig in Scrooge, The Musical. He recently performed in the PlayCrafter's production of Jaques Brel and in the Producers. He appears with Night & Day, along with Elizabeth Knecht in recitals, concerts and cabaret, and performed at the Walnut StreetTheater's productions of Windy City and Les Miserables, where he was also cast as an understudy to Valjean.
Mr. Pollack is originally from Boston, MA, and was educated at Franklin & Marshall College and at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he received a Mennen Fellowship and University Honors for his achievement in composition and conducting. |
