Paul McIlvaine

Tenor

Paul McIlvaine

Paul McIlvaine performs in a wide variety of tenor repertoire and has previously sung with Center Stage Opera as Canio in Pagliacci and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana.  His other roles include Florestan in Fidelio, Erik in The Flying Dutchman, Sam in Susannah, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, The Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca, and the title roles in both Otello and L’Amico FritzHe is equally at home with contemporary roles, including four World Premiere Operas.  He performed the role of Ben Benito in the World Premiere of  Moneta at Carnegie Hall and created the character of Allen in Virginia Opera's World Premiere of Cue 67. Paul has sung with many opera companies, including The Washington Opera, The Greater Buffalo Opera Company, and The Opera Orchestra of New York.  He won critical acclaim for his performance as Alfredo in the Teatro Nacional's 25th Anniversary performance of La Traviata in Santo Domingo.

He has also appeared as tenor soloist with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, the Handel Choir of Baltimore, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and others in such works as the Andrew Lloyd Weber Requiem, Haydn's The Creation, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, and the Verdi Requiem.

He has also worked in Musical Theater as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Alexius in The Chocolate Soldier, Sid El Kar in The Desert Song and Sir Harry in Once Upon a Mattress.  Paul has performed the National Anthem for the New York Mets Baseball Team at Shea Stadium and currently holds a 5-3 Record - a feat unequaled in all of baseball!
