Originally from Ridgewood, NJ, Michael Popovsky (Baritone) is now based out of Lancaster, Pa. He received his B.A. in music in 2007 from Franklin and Marshall College where he was the Hugh Gault Award recipient for musical excellence and a two time winner in the Solo/Concerto competition. While at F&M, Michael had the pleasure of studying with international sopranos, Lorraine Ernest and Gweynne Geyer.
Michael has performed with such opera companies as Opera Lancaster, Delaware Valley Opera Company, Opera Naples (Fl.), and Opera Seabrook. Favorite roles include Schaunard (La Boheme) and Marullo (Rigoletto). Michael can next be seen on stage with the Stony Hill Players (NJ) under the baton of Maestro Tramm (Opera NJ), performing the role of Gugliemo in Cosi fan Tutte.
Well versed in musical theatre as well, Michael has performed such roles as Harold Hil (The Music Man), Snoopy (You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown), and Cinderella’s Prince (Into the Woods), to name a few, with such companies as Theatre of the Seventh Sister, Ephrata Performing Arts and The Fulton Theatre.
When not performing, Michael enjoys music directing or directing various operatic and musical theatre productions ranging from those for children through collegiate and semi-professional companies. He is also the director and member of the voice faculty at Popovsky Performing and is a student of Dr. Thomas Houser. He is a member of EMC and NATS |
