Matthew Giallongo

Baritone

Matthew Giallongo

Matthew Giallongo is a classically trained Baritone who has a made a home in the both the Opera and Musical Theatre worlds. Matthew is a sought after soloist and performer for his incredible commitment to character. He is hailed as having “a beautiful voice and …[singing] with great depth of feeling” (Kile Smith, composer). 

Matthew is a lover, pioneer, and performer of contemporary music.  In the summer of 2012 he attended the music festival SongFest at Colburn where he worked with composers Libby Larsen and William Bolcom.  While there he also coached with Margo Garret, D’ana Fortunato, Bill Sharp, and Matthew Morris.  Matthew is a former member of CANTATICA, a contemporary mixed vocal ensemble based in Philadelphia. He is also an active recitalist with the Wednesday Club of Harrisburg

As no stranger to theatre and opera he has worked on all aspects of a show--ranging from costume design and construction, to accompanying, directing, and acting. Favorite roles include: the Baker (Into the Woods), Frank (Die Fledermaus) and Papageno (Die Zauberflüte).

During the school year Matthew is a currently pursuing a double masters in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Temple University. During the summer Matthew is the head of the Voice and Theatre Department at Camp Encore-Coda in Sweden, ME.  He holds a B.M. in Performance from Gettysburg College with honors in music.  His primary voice teachers are Dr. Norman Spivey, Dr. Lawrence Indik, and Mr. Jeffrey Fahnestock.
