Marcelle McGuirk

Soprano

Marcelle McGuirk

A versatile musician, soprano Marcelle McGuirk finds herself equally at home singing concerts and oratorio, as well as on the stage. Her 2015/2016 season opened with her company debut with Vulcan Lyric in their world premiere production of Maren of Vardø in the roles of Karen and Young Maren. She makes another company debut in November with Center Stage Opera as Musetta in Puccini's La Boheme. In May of 2016, she rejoins OperaDelware in their production of Faccio's lost Amleto as the Player Queen and to cover Ofelia.

Her 2014/2015 season opened with her debut with Delaware ChoralArts in Bach's Magnificat and Geoffrey Bush's Christmas Cantata. In another company debut, she then sang the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's Snowmaiden with Bel Cantanti Opera. In April, she will joined the Delaware Choral Society as the soprano soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana. She is also a 2015 Principal Artist with the Delaware Valley Opera Company and is a Staff Singer and Cantor at the celebrated Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.

Past seasons have included Ms. McGuirk's participation in the Russian Opera Workshop under the direction of Ghenady Mierson (Curtis/Academy of Vocal Arts), covering the role of Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) with the Delaware Valley Opera Company, multiple engagements with OperaDelaware (L'elisir d'amore -ensemble, Spring Sings), and Poor Richard's Opera (A Midsummer Night's Dream-Mustardseed, Falstaff- Ensemble). She has also performed oratorio with Camerata alla Rustica (Gloria- Vivaldi), the Archdiocesan Choir of Philadelphia (Dextera Domine- Franck) and is regularly a featured soloist with the Cathedral Basilica Choir.

Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ms. McGuirk studied at Marywood University before relocating to Philadelphia to further her musical studies. She is currently a student in the studio of William Stone.
