Tenor John Calkins will be singing with CSO this season as Nadir in Les Pecheurs de Perles. Most recently, he performed as a featured soloist with the Handel and Bach Chorale Society performance of Bach’s Magnificat and Cantata 171. He has performed in many operas, concerts, and outreach programs with Opera Columbus, including the roles Tamino, Count Almaviva, and Don Ramiro and was a featured performer for The Lancaster Festival (OH). Mr. Calkins has received extensive musical training at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria, performing the role of Nencio (L’Infedelta Delusa), and at Opera New Jersey, covering the role of Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola). This April, Mr. Calkins will be singing in the University of Findlay’s production of Naughty Marietta as Captain Richard Warrington. He will return to CSO as Lindoro in June in L’Italiana in Algeri.
