Jillian Finnamore

Soprano Jillian Finnamore “has drama, musicianship, flair, and a gorgeous instrument,” as well as versatility.  She recently competed in the finals of Howard County, Maryland’s Rising Star Competition.  In June of 2010, Ms. Finnamore performed the soprano solo from the Brahms Requiem, along with selected lieder, with Music from Maple View.   June and September of 2009 saw her performing lieder and opera from 1920’s and 30’s German repertoire in Bernried, Germany, and New York City’s Austrian Cultural Forum.  Also in 2009, Ms. Finnamore played the role of Helène in Victor Herbert’s operetta Orange Blossoms and performed Haydn’s Little Organ Mass.  Jillian sang the role of Mabel (from the Pirates of Penzance) with the Southern Great Lakes Symphony in fall 2008.  Her opera performances include the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, “Tourist A” in the world premiere of the opera Lost in Translation by Bruce Trinkley and Jason Charnesky, and Zemphira in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko (cover).

She has performed as soprano soloist for Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Exsulate Jubilate, Dyson’s Hierusalem, Schubert’s Mass in G, and the Christmas Oratorio by Camille Saint-Saens.

In competition she has been a finalist in the Harold Haugh Comic Opera Competition (2008 and 2009) and the Rising Star Emerging Artist Award (2009).  Upcoming performances include  Violetta in La Traviata (November 2011).  She was born in Papua New Guinea and raised in French West Africa.
