Jennifer Kosharsky

Mezzo Soprano

Jennifer_Kosharsky

Mezzo soprano Jennifer Kosharsky has been described by the press as “an excellent
actress, with a dark-timbred, attractive, mezzo-soprano voice” of “outstanding vocal range.” Her portrayal of Princess Eboli in Don Carlo for Houston’s Opera in the Heights’ inspired the press to call her:

a powerhouse mezzo…velvet voiced…a supple mezzo [that] raised the roof.”

She is quickly becoming a favorite in both dramatic and comedic roles with such opera companies as Union Avenue Opera of St. Louis, Elgin Opera, Golden Gate Opera, Miami Lyric Opera, Muddy River Opera, and Music by the Lake. Of her Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana), for Miami Lyric Opera the critics wrote, “Jennifer Kosharsky, as Lola, was a right choice… with a well-supported mezzo voice and a seductive figure, she shined in her role performing it convincingly.” A rare and convincing Suzuki (La Boheme), she has portrayed this devoted servant for Music by the Lake, Elgin Opera, Golden Gate Opera, and Muddy River Opera and has sung the title role in Dido and Aeneas for Elgin Opera and her first Dalila (Samson et Dalila) for St. Petersburg Opera.

Recent concert appearances include “L’amour, tourjour l’amour”, a French Gala Concert, with the Millennium Orchestra of Chicago and her European debut with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Croatia, in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Upcoming engagements include a gala fund raising concert for San Francisco Bay’s Golden Gate Opera, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with Chicago’s Music of the Baroque, Messiah with Chicago’s Northshore Chamber Arts Ensemble, a “Holiday Concert” and “Opera Gala” with the Traverse City Symphony Orchestra, and her first Verdi Requiem with Music in the Mountains, in Green Valley, California.

Additional roles include Preziosilla in Verdi’s La forza del destino, Third Lady in The Magic Flute, Suor Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, and the “character role” of Clotilde in Romberg’s The New Moon. Ms. Kosharsky has also performed Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Sesto in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito, Flora in La Traviata, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte and the title role in Carmen.
