Jennifer Jellings

Jennifer Jellings is a frequent soloist in opera, recital and oratorio. The Washington Post wrote of her performance in Abduction from the Seraglio: “Jellings has a brilliant upper register and a coloratura technique that makes “Martern aller Arten” the show’s musical climax.”   She made her international debut singing the role of Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte in Naples, Italy in 2010 and returned this summer to reprise the role with the Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival. In addition, this year Ms. Jellings performed the role of Lucy in The Telephone, was a soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Rutter’s Requiem and Süßmayr’s Der Retter in Gefar and was a Finalist in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition. Ms. Jellings will be making her debut with the Center Stage Opera in November singing Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus.
 
Other highlights in Ms. Jellings career include appearances with The Summer Opera Theatre Company, the Alexandria Symphony, the Pennsylvania Symphonia Orchestra, the New Dominion Chorale, the In-Series, Choralis and in concert at the White House. Ms. Jellings made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall as a winner of the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition and has performed in concerts of opera arias and scenes throughout the Amalfi Coast role with the Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival and in Northern Germany with the Lotte Lehmann Akademie. 
 
With the Summer Opera Theatre Company, Ms. Jellings performed the roles of Noémie inCendrillon, Agnus Day in a newly scripted version of Impressario and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. She performed the roles of Constanza in The Abduction from the Seralio and a Leading Lady in Mozart’s Leading Ladies with the In-Series. Other roles include Violetta, La Traviata, Erste Dame, Die Zauberflöte, and Musetta, La Bohème

Equally at home in oratorio, Ms. Jellings has frequently performed as soloist in Mozart’s Grand Mass in C minor and the Solemn Vespers, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s CreationLord Nelson Mass and Missa Brevis, Honegger’s Le Roi David, and the Requiem masses of Mozart, Brahms, Fauré and Verdi. In 2009, Ms. Jellings was a soloist in the rarely performed Christus by Liszt with the New Dominion Chorale. 

Ms. Jellings performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Pennsylvania Symphonia Orchestra and has been a featured soloist with the Alexandria Symphony and the Vocal Arts Society Music Outreach Program. In addition, she was a 2011 Semi-finalist in the XIII Concorso Lirico Internazionale "Mario Lanza" in Isernia, Italy, a 2010 finalist in the Vocal Arts Society Discovery Series Competition, a 1st Place winner in the Mid-Atlantic NATS Divisional Competition and a semi-finalist in both the Marie Crump Vocal Competition and the 2009 Irma M. Cooper Opera Columbus International Vocal Competition.
