Evan Walker

Tenor

Evan Walker

Evan Walker is a leggiero tenor whose roles have included Arithmetic (L’Enfant et les sortilèges), Camille (Merry Widow), Frederic (Pirates of Penzance), Don Pelagio (La Canterina),
and Nanki-Poo (Mikado). In reviewing his Ralph (HMS Pinafore), the Baltimore Sun praised him as a “Magnificent operatic tenor.” In addition, he created the role of Dimmesdale in Doug Yetter’s contemporary operatic setting of The Scarlet Letter.

He regularly appears as an oratorio soloist and recitalist. Oratorio soloist performances have been with the Columbia Orchestra, Peabody Orchestra, Bach Concert Series, Bach Society of Baltimore, Baltimore Chamber Consort, and Friday Morning Music Club Chorale. Evan’s 2009-10 soloist performances have been Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bruckner’s Te Deum, Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and Michael Haydn’s St. Francis Mass. Evan has made recital appearances at the
Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Towson Chamber Players, Cathedral Concert Series, and Music at Charlestown. His 2009-10 recital appearances included Chamber Music on the Hill, The Sumner School, Epiphany Episcopal/Capitol Hill, and Notre Dame College.

Evan was educated at Peabody Conservatory, which he attended on a graduate assistantship, and Catholic University, which he attended on a performance scholarship. Additional awards have been an NEH grant for study in Vienna, summer 2006, a sabbatical trip to Paris, spring 1997, and several faculty development grants. His primary teachers have been Wayne Conner and Ruth Drucker. He currently coaches with Thomas Grubb.

He is the Music Department Chair and full-time Singing teacher at Carver Center for Arts and Technology, in Towson, MD.
