Emily Woodruff

Soprano

Name
Soprano Emily Woodruff performs standard and contemporary vocal repertoire across the U.S. and abroad. Last season, Emily appeared with Center Stage opera as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), and also sang the role of Rusalka in the Philadelphia premiere of Alexander Dargomyzhsky’s Rusalka with Russian Opera Workshop. Other opera credits include Mimì (La Bohemè), Marguerite (Faust), Donna Anna and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Giulietta and Antonia (Les contes d'Hoffmann), Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Violetta (La traviata), Thais (title role) and Josephine (H.M.S. Pinafore).

On the concert stage, Emily produced and performed Queens Speak, a multimedia production pairing contemporary song with projected imagery to narrate the lives and experiences of King Henry VIII’s wives. With Queens Speak, Emily has premiered contemporary vocal works in the Composers Now Festival, KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival, and NEXTET new music series (University of Nevada Las Vegas). Emily has also premiered works in the Composer’s Voice Concert Series (Manhattan) and the Brooklyn College Electro-Acoustic Music Festival, and she premiered the role of Geraldine in Christabel, a chamber opera by Jennifer Bellor.

Emily holds both a B.A. in Music and an M.A. in Music Theory and History from the Pennsylvania State University’s Schreyer Honors College, as well as an M.A. in Musicology from the Eastman School of Music.
