Elizabeth Zito

Soprano

Rising soprano Elizabeth Zito will next be seen singing Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto in March 2014 with Center Stage Opera (Harrisburg, PA). Earlier this year, Elizabeth joined the Simone-Rachmaninoff Project for a DC-based performance of the composer’s Op. 21 Russian song cycle. In 2013, she debuted the titular role in CSO’s production of Massanet’s stunning Manon, and appeared in the chorus of Baltimore-based Young Victorian Opera Theatre's HMS Pinafore. Her operatic performances include Adele (Die Fledermaus), Manon (Manon), Susannah (Le nozze de Figaro), Amor (La coronazione di Poppea), and Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte). As winner of the York Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 Concerto Competition, she will perform selected Bellini arias with the symphony in its 2014-2015 season.

Elizabeth graduated from American University, where she placed 1st in the AU Symphony Orchestra’s Aria and Concerto Competition her sophomore year. A seasoned performer, Elizabeth made her international soloist debut at the American University of Cairo, Egypt, in 2010, and her Capitol Hill debut in Washington D.C. in 2011, at a Pearl Harbor 70th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony for veterans and members of the USAF. Other concert performances include Haydn’s Dixit Dominus, Fauré’s Requiem, Barber’s Prayers of Kierkegaard, Handel’s Samson, and master-classes with Metropolitan Opera's Elizabeth Bishop and Washington National Opera's Ken Weiss. She currently resides and teaches voice and piano in Washington D.C, performing actively through the DC/Baltimore region.
