Southern New Jersey native and lyric mezzo soprano Brittany Griffith graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Music in vocal music education, studying under the expert tutelage of Jon Garrison and Lauren Athey-Janka.
No stranger to the regional opera stage, Ms. Griffith has performed recently as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Nicklausse (Les Comtes d’Hoffmann) with Center Stage Opera, as well as Mercedes (Carmen) and Oscar (Il Reggente) with Amici Opera Company. In addition, she has covered roles and sung in the choruses of several Delaware Valley Opera Company productions, including The Magic Flute, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Die Fledermaus. Notable collegiate credits include her portrayals of Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Prince Orlovsky (Die Fledermaus), and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier).
As a professional chorister, Brittany enjoys performing as the alto section leader and soloist at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, as well as with The Choral Arts Society of Southern NJ. She has performed as an alto soloist in a number of major works including Handel’s Messiah, Verdi’s Gloria, and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. When not performing, Ms. Griffith currently holds a position teaching vocal and general music to the wonderful students of Rieck Avenue Elementary in Millville, NJ.
