Alyxandra Gallagher

Soprano

Soprano Alyxandra Gallagher was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a curious and creative child, she began to explore music of her own volition, starting with singing in school, in church choirs and whenever she got a chance to perform. At the age of 9 she began learning to play the trumpet and at 12 began harp lessons. By the time she reached middle school, she was auditioning for county choral competitions and lead singing parts in her chorus' performances. When she reached high school she began voice lessons privately as well as auditioned and was cast in the chorus for the Hershey High School production of Les Miserables. Outside of school, she took ballet, hip hop and jazz dance classes at the Hershey School of Dance and performed in the Harrisburg Dinner Theatre's production of Bye Bye Birdie.

She graduated with her BA from the Music Performance program at York College of Pennsylvania with a concentration in voice and a Minor in French. During her college education, she was involved with several musical groups on-campus including York College Chorale, York College Chamber Singers, York College Women's Ensemble and the Opera and Musical Theatre Workshop, which performed musical revues during the Fall semester and Musicals or Operas in the Spring semester.

During her college education, she sang the roles of Lauretta in York College's production of Gianni Schicchi as well as Anne from A Little Night Music in a Sondheim Revue. After graduation, she continued to pursue an education in music and theatre by continuing private voice lessons. She auditioned for and became involved with the Harrisburg Choral Society as well as the Capitol Opera Company's world premier of Breath of God. During this time, she was studying various theatrical courses at Harrisburg Area Community College such as Theatrical Costuming, Theatrical Makeup as well as various acting, movement and dialect courses. She currently is continuing voice lessons with her teacher, taking master classes and teaching voice lessons at Menchey's Music.
