Soprano

Alison McConekey

Alison McConekey, Soprano, was a 2009 district winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She was recently awarded OperaOnline's "Best Performance by a Comprimario Female" for her performance of "Inez" in Opera North's Il Trovatore. Critic Paul Joseph Walkowski stated, "Ms. McConekey gave a solid performance both vocally and visually... and displayed confidence with a fluid singing style and poise as a center stage performer. Brava!"

Other recent credits include "Mimi" (La Boheme) with the Center Stage Opera, "Donna Anna" (Don Giovanni) also with CSO, "Contessa Almaviva" (Le Nozze di Figaro) with the Eastern Festival Opera, "Violetta" (cover, La Traviata, also with EFO), "First Lady" (Die Zauberfloete, Downtown Symphony, NY), "Lady Billows" (cover, Albert Herring, Opera North), "Gertrude" (Hansel and Gretel), "Micaela" (Carmen), and "Anna Glawari" (The Merry Widow). She has appeared with the Center for Contemporary Opera (NY) in the world staged premiere of Vera of Las Vegas, and as a recurring member of Opera North's Young Artist Program. Most recently, Alison performed in Linda di Chamounix and Il Trovatore at Bel Canto at Caramoor (NY), as a member of the Caramoor Bel Canto Apprentice Program.

Ms. McConekey completed her operatic studies at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music (MM, Opera), and studied abroad at the Academie Internationale d'Ete de Nice where she performed at the Villa Kerylos on the French Riviera. She can also be seen performing throughout New York City with the City Beat Opera.
