Alicia Mendoza

Soprano

 

Victoria Tralongo

Alicia Mendoza has presented vocal recitals in Puerto Rico, the United States and appeared as a soloist in Austria and Costa Rica .  In their centennial season, she was the featured soloist in the Music in Motion Family Concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Mo. Andre Raphel Smith.  She recently performed the role of Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music Opera Workshop and the role of Violetta, in Verdi’s La Traviata, with the Delaware Valley Opera Company (DVOC) in Philadelphia.

Besides performing the role of Musetta, from Puccini’s La Boheme, in a scenes program with the DVOC, Alicia has performed Magda in scenes from Puccini's La Rondine and the role of the Second Witch/Spirit from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with the Westminster Opera Theater and Opera Workshop. She has been the featured soprano soloist in a number of choral works including Haydn's Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo and Ives' Easter Carol

An advocate of the art song genre, Ms. Mendoza enjoys presenting lecture recitals.  In particular, she enjoys exposing and educating the public in her hometown of Humacao, Puerto Rico to this genre whenever the opportunity presents itself.  Her last recital, received praise from the local press for not only its entertainment value but also for its educational value. 

Alicia is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and currently studies with George Gray.  She, her husband and their four legged friends reside in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia .
